The Club

Our History: From 1904 to Today

Early Days on Wistow Road
Founded in 1904, Kibworth Golf Club began its journey on Wistow Road with a humble 9-hole course. The land was rented from a local farmer for just £20 a year, and the first clubhouse was a converted railway carriage. Our very first Professional earned 14 shillings a week, reflecting the club’s modest but determined beginnings.

Challenges and Relocation
The club weathered the difficulties of the war years, thanks to a dedicated membership. However, the original land suffered from poor drainage and lacked the space for an 18-hole layout. By 1960, a new opportunity arose: the club purchased land on Weir Road for £8,250, built a new clubhouse for £4,500, and even invested in a new tractor for just £86. This move secured the club’s future and marked the beginning of its modern era.

A Beautiful Leicestershire Golf Course
